Sew Mates, On todays Class we will learn how to drape using a flat pattern making techniques called Slash and Spread, this technique is used to add fullness to a garment.

Note that every drape must have a base. The base of this dress can be a shoulder dart or armhole princess dart.

The base can serve as the lining, it can be padded or ready made bra-cups can be used.

Soft fabric/ light weight fabric can be used to achieve a full effect of the drapes.

This illustration is for Advanced Fashion Designers. You should have an idea of dart manipulation and dart transfer.

Required measurements

1. Front length
2. Back Length
3. Gown length
4. Bust
5. Shoulder to under bust
6. Waist
7. Hip
8. Bust point
9. Bust span

Sewing tips- you can tack the drapes to keep it in place after sewing.
